Summary
Michigan Medicaid has updated telemedicine policies effective March 1, 2020, expanding originating sites to include patient homes and requiring all telemedicine claims to use Place of Service 02-Telehealth with GT modifier. Reimbursement changes to facility rate only starting June 1, 2020.

By March 1, 2020: Update billing system to require Place of Service 02-Telehealth and GT modifier for all Michigan Medicaid telemedicine claims. Train billing team on new originating site rules including patient homes. By June 1, 2020: Update reimbursement expectations to facility rate only for telemedicine services. Note that claims from March 1-May 31, 2020 may not process until after June 1, 2020.
