Summary
Michigan Medicaid changed telemedicine reimbursement from facility rates to non-facility rates (higher payment) for all telemedicine services using Place of Service 02 with GT modifier, effective June 1, 2020. MI Care Team Health Action Plans can now be delivered via telemedicine instead of requiring in-person visits.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must verify that all telemedicine services are being billed with Place of Service 02 and GT modifier to receive the higher non-facility reimbursement rate. For MI Care Team providers, update billing procedures to allow Health Action Plan services via telemedicine using POS 02 and GT modifier on professional claims. Review recent telemedicine claims to ensure proper reimbursement rates are being received.
