Summary

Effective July 13, 2020, Michigan rescinded COVID-19 emergency provisions that allowed out-of-state providers to practice without proper licensure and non-enrolled nurses to order COVID-19 diagnostic tests. All temporary scope of practice expansions and supervision waivers have ended, returning to standard Medicaid requirements.

Action Required

Action needed
Immediately: Verify all out-of-state providers serving Medicaid patients have proper Michigan licensure and enrollment. Ensure only enrolled providers are ordering COVID-19 diagnostic laboratory tests - registered nurses and licensed practical nurses can no longer order these tests unless properly enrolled. Review and reinstate standard supervision and delegation requirements for all provider staff per existing Medicaid Practitioner policies.
