Summary

Michigan Medicaid has rescinded COVID-19 emergency provisions that allowed out-of-state healthcare professionals and nursing students to provide services through Medicaid-enrolled hospice agencies. As of July 13, 2020, only properly licensed Michigan healthcare professionals can provide these services.

Action Required

Action needed
Immediately: Billing teams for hospice agencies must verify that all RNs, LPNs, PTs, OTs, and SLPs providing services are licensed in Michigan. Stop billing for services provided by out-of-state licensed professionals or nursing students after July 13, 2020. Review and audit any claims submitted for services by unlicensed providers as these will be denied.
