Summary
Starting January 1, 2021, Michigan Medicaid-certified nursing facilities must complete and submit specific MDS item set fields (GG0130, GG0170, I0020, J2100, Z0200A) associated with Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) on all comprehensive and quarterly MDS assessments for every resident, regardless of payer source. This applies to nursing facilities, county medical care facilities, hospital long-term care units, state veterans' homes, and ventilator-dependent care units.
Action Required
By January 1, 2021: Nursing facility billing and clinical staff must update MDS assessment processes to complete specific PDPM-related sections (GG0130, GG0170, I0020, J2100, Z0200A) for ALL residents regardless of payer source. Follow RAI User's Manual guidance for coding. Update staff training and assessment workflows to ensure compliance with new submission requirements.
