Summary
Michigan Medicaid adds Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection screening as a covered EPSDT service for beneficiaries under 21 years old, following the 2021 AAP Periodicity Schedule. Additionally, prior authorization requirements are removed for MAVYRET® (glecaprevir/pibrentasvir) when prescribed according to FDA-approved labeling.
Action Required
By January 1, 2022: Billing team must update system to recognize HCV screening as covered EPSDT service for Medicaid patients under 21. Remove prior authorization requirements for MAVYRET® prescriptions when prescribed per FDA labeling. Update encounter forms to include HCV screening options for eligible patients. Ensure follow-up services and referrals for positive HCV cases are processed as covered EPSDT services.
