Summary
Effective August 1, 2024, Medicaid-enrolled podiatrists can now order, refer, and certify patients for Home Health Care Services in Michigan. Podiatrists can be listed as ordering/referring providers on 837I claims and as attending physicians on UB-04 forms for home health services.
Action Required
By August 1, 2024: Update billing system to accept podiatrists as valid ordering/referring providers for Home Health Care Services claims on 837I forms. Update UB-04 billing templates to allow podiatrists as attending physicians for HHCS claims. Ensure podiatrists only perform plan of treatment functions consistent with Michigan state law authorization.
