Action Required

Action needed
By October 1, 2024: Billing team must stop billing for over-the-counter COVID-19 home test kits for Michigan Medicaid patients. Discontinue separate billing for COVID-19 specimen collection services - these will now be included in lab test processing or E&M service reimbursement. For FQHCs, RHCs, THCs, and Tribal FQHCs, stop using special COVID-19 vaccine administration billing and revert to standard clinic reimbursement policies. Ensure all laboratory-performed COVID-19 tests meet medical necessity requirements per traditional Medicaid laboratory policy.
