Summary
Michigan is establishing Intensive Care Coordination with Wraparound (ICCW) as a new Medicaid service for children/youth with serious behavioral health needs, replacing standalone Wraparound services. This creates new billing opportunities for qualifying providers who obtain MDHHS certification.
Action Required
By October 1, 2024: Providers serving children/youth with serious emotional disturbances or developmental disabilities in Michigan must determine if they want to offer ICCW services. If yes, request MDHHS certification through their defined process, ensure staff meet qualification requirements (bachelor's degree for Care Coordinators, specific training certifications), and update billing systems to bill ICCW instead of separate Wraparound services. Note that Targeted Case Management cannot be billed when ICCW is authorized for the same patient.
