Summary
Michigan is expanding its Opioid Health Home program to become a Substance Use Disorder Health Home (SUD-HH) effective October 1, 2024, adding coverage for alcohol and stimulant use disorders and expanding to additional counties. This creates new care management and coordination services for eligible Medicaid beneficiaries with substance use disorders.
Action Required
By October 1, 2024: Providers in Michigan's PIHP Region 3 (Allegan, Kent, Lake, Mason, Muskegon, Oceana, Ottawa counties) should review the upcoming Substance Use Disorder Health Home Handbook on the michigan.gov website to understand new SUD-HH service billing procedures. Billing teams should prepare to identify Medicaid beneficiaries with ICD-10 codes for opioid, alcohol, or stimulant use disorders who may be eligible for these new care coordination services.
