Summary
Michigan Medicaid will begin covering screening, diagnostic, and targeted case management services for eligible juveniles (under 21 or former foster care 18-26) in correctional facilities starting 30 days before release and continuing 30 days after release. Providers serving this population must enroll in CHAMPS system.
Action Required
By January 1, 2025: Providers serving juveniles in correctional facilities must enroll in Michigan's CHAMPS system. Correctional facilities need Type 2 NPI and individual providers need Type 1 NPI associated with facility. Update billing processes to capture reentry services for eligible juveniles 30 days pre- and post-release. Contact ProviderSupport@michigan.gov for enrollment guidance.
