Summary

Michigan Medicaid will no longer deduct Medicare Part B premiums as a community spouse budget income expense starting July 1, 2025. This Medicare Part B premium is now included in the federal Minimum Monthly Needs Allowance standard calculations for SSI-Related Medicaid Extended Care eligibility.

Before July 1, 2025: Billing and eligibility verification staff should note that Michigan Medicaid patients with community spouses will have different income calculations for Extended Care Program eligibility. Update verification procedures to account for the new Medicare Part B premium treatment in community spouse budgets.
