Summary
Wisconsin Medicaid and BadgerCare providers are encouraged to inform veteran patients about Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) benefits including health care aid grants up to $5,000 per person annually, disability pensions, and various other financial assistance programs. This is an informational update to help providers connect eligible veterans with additional benefits.
Action Required
Immediately: Front desk and clinical staff should identify veteran patients and provide them with the WDVA benefits handout (Attachment 1 from this policy). Keep copies of the handout available for distribution to veterans and their families. Refer veterans to county veterans service offices for assistance with applications.
