Summary
Blue Cross Blue Shield plans are updating member ID cards by removing suitcase logos and replacing them with simple text indicators (e.g., PPO instead of PPO in suitcase). Both old and new card formats will be in circulation during this phased rollout, but member benefits and network access remain unchanged.
Action Required
Immediately: Train front desk staff to accept both legacy ID cards (with suitcase logos) and new ID cards (without suitcase logos) from out-of-area BCBS members. Continue standard eligibility verification process for all members. When uncertain about member's Blue Plan, call BlueCard Eligibility at 1-800-676-BLUE (2583) with the member ID prefix.
