Summary
ForwardHealth has introduced a new method for providers to return overpayments by voiding claims through the ForwardHealth Portal, in addition to existing adjustment requests and cash refunds. Providers must still return overpayments within 30 days, but can now use this more efficient voiding method for complete claim recoupment.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team should familiarize themselves with the new claim voiding feature on the ForwardHealth Portal for returning overpayments. Update overpayment return procedures to include voiding as an option alongside adjustment requests and cash refunds. Note that voided claims receive ICN numbers beginning with 67 (cash refunds) or 59 (portal adjustments), and voided claims cannot be further adjusted but services can be resubmitted on new claims.
