Summary
Tribal members enrolled in Wisconsin Medicaid and BadgerCare Plus are now exempt from all copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles for services received from any provider (not just tribal health centers) effective September 11, 2011. Providers must not collect cost shares from American Indian or Alaska Native members and should refund any amounts collected since July 1, 2009.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must update system to identify American Indian/Alaska Native members in ForwardHealth Enrollment Verification System and exempt them from all copayment collection. Review remittance information to verify no copayments were deducted before collecting from members. Refund any cost share amounts collected from tribal members for services provided since July 1, 2009.
