Summary
ForwardHealth (Wisconsin Medicaid programs) is transitioning from ICD-9 to ICD-10 coding effective October 1, 2015. All claims and prior authorization requests with dates on or after October 1, 2015 must use ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes instead of ICD-9 codes.
Action Required
By October 1, 2015: Billing team must update all systems and processes to use ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes instead of ICD-9 codes for all Wisconsin Medicaid program claims (BadgerCare Plus, SeniorCare, Wisconsin Medicaid, AIDS Drug Assistance Program, Chronic Disease Program, Well Woman Program). Update billing software to prevent mixing ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes in single transactions. Register for optional testing starting July 2015 and attend Brown Bag training sessions. Claims with ICD-9 codes for services on/after October 1, 2015 will be denied.
