Summary
Effective immediately, providers must indicate 'OI-P' other insurance indicator on paper claims when a prior payer's allowed amount is applied to deductible, coinsurance, copayment, blood deduction, or psychiatric reduction. Electronic claims will automatically receive this indicator, and ForwardHealth will auto-adjust applicable claims from November 2008 forward.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must add 'OI-P' other insurance indicator on all paper claims where prior payer amounts are applied to deductible, coinsurance, copayment, blood deduction, or psychiatric reduction. Also indicate 'OI-P' on attached Explanation of Medical Benefits forms (F-01234). Electronic claims will automatically receive this indicator. Continue entering deductible/coinsurance amounts in appropriate fields, not in 'Amount Paid' field.
