Summary
Point32Health (Rhode Island) has expanded RITogether oral health benefits to cover dental anesthesia services performed in professional office settings, effective July 1, 2024. Five new dental procedure codes (D9212, D9222, D9223, D9239, D9243) are now reimbursable for office-based dental anesthesia, and the insurer will retroactively reprocess previously submitted claims.
Action Required
Immediately: Dental practices should resubmit any previously denied claims for the five covered dental anesthesia codes (D9212, D9222, D9223, D9239, D9243) for dates of service from July 1, 2024 onward, as Point32Health will retroactively reprocess these claims. Update billing system to include these newly covered codes for RITogether members receiving office-based dental anesthesia services.
