Security Health Plan Medicare Advantage plans now provide eyeglasses stipends ranging from $150-$275 depending on plan type, effective January 1, 2017. Providers must bill Security Health Plan for all eyeglasses claims from network providers, as patient-paid claims are not allowed.

Immediately: Billing team must submit claims to Security Health Plan for all eyeglasses provided to Medicare Advantage members. Update billing workflows to accommodate three payment options: require deposit and bill balance after insurance payment, collect estimated patient portion upfront, or charge full amount and reimburse patient after insurance payment. Claims must be sent even for network providers.
