Summary
New policy establishes that Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia is considered investigational and therefore not covered. Claims using CPT 37243 for PAE procedures will be denied as investigational.
Action Required
Before April 1, 2026: Billing team must update system to flag CPT 37243 (Vascular embolization) for prostate artery embolization as investigational/non-covered for BPH treatment. Inform urology and interventional radiology providers that PAE claims will be denied. Update pre-authorization systems to automatically deny PAE requests for BPH.
