Summary
Oregon Medicaid requires Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) for home health agencies and personal care services to capture service delivery data electronically at the time of service. Medicaid personal care providers must implement EVV by January 1, 2021, while home health providers have until January 1, 2023. This federal requirement applies to Oregon Medicaid providers only.
Action Required
By January 1, 2023: Home health providers and billing teams must implement Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) systems that capture the following data elements electronically at the time of service delivery: date of service, individual providing the service, individual receiving the service, time service begins and ends, location of service delivery, and type of service performed. Billing team must ensure all home health encounter documentation systems are updated to support EVV data capture. Providers should coordinate with the Oregon Health Authority and Department of Human Services to access approved EVV solutions. Failure to implement EVV by the deadline will result in non-compliance with federal Medicaid requirements and potential claim processing issues.
