Summary
Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid) is requesting providers to submit claims and prior authorization requests electronically rather than by paper or fax to reduce processing delays caused by COVID-19 related staffing reductions. Action Required
Immediately: Billing team should prioritize electronic submission of all Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid) claims and prior authorization requests through the Provider Web Portal (https://www.or-medicaid.gov) or EDI to avoid processing delays. If submitting more than 40 claims per week, evaluate whether EDI setup is feasible through your office management software. Staff should review existing online resources on the Tools for Providers page and OHP for Providers website before contacting Provider Services. Update internal billing procedures to mandate electronic submission for Oregon Medicaid claims effective immediately. Failure to submit electronically may result in extended processing delays for paper claims, prior authorizations, and provider enrollment requests.
