Summary
Oregon Health Authority is resuming PASRR Level II (SMI) evaluations for nursing facility residents effective May 7, 2020, after a temporary COVID-19 suspension. Providers may now deliver these evaluations via telemedicine or in-person visits. Billing codes and invoicing processes remain unchanged; providers must only document in the evaluation narrative that telemedicine was used.
Action Required
Effective May 7, 2020: Providers conducting PASRR Level II (SMI) evaluations must document in the evaluation narrative body that the assessment was completed using telehealth (specify method: digital platform, phone, or tablet). Billing team should verify current telemedicine billing guidance is available to providers and confirm that billing codes and e-invoicing processes require no system changes. No prior authorization updates or billing code modifications are needed.
