Summary
Oregon Health Authority is rescinding its policy allowing CCOs to cover planned community birth services (formerly out-of-hospital births) and requiring CCOs to sign new opt-in contract amendments to continue offering these services. CCOs must formally request to opt-in by specific deadlines or lose coverage for these birthing services.
Action Required
By September 15, 2022: CCOs currently offering planned community birth services must email Cheryl.L.Henning@dhsoha.state.or.us to formally request opt-in amendments. By March 15, 2023: CCOs wishing to newly offer these services must submit formal requests. Billing teams at affected practices should verify their CCO's opt-in status and ensure proper enrollment/contracting with Medicaid for PCB services. Failure to complete amendments will result in non-compliance and loss of coverage for these services.
