Summary
Starting May 1, 2023, only approved Integrated Co-occurring Disorders (ICD) programs can use billing modifiers HO and HH for Oregon Medicaid behavioral health services. Non-approved providers must stop using these modifiers or their claims will be denied.
Action Required
By May 1, 2023: Billing team must immediately stop using modifiers HO and HH unless the practice is an approved Integrated Co-occurring Disorders (ICD) program. Update billing software to prevent use of these modifiers for Oregon Medicaid claims. Review all pending claims with HO/HH modifiers before May 1. Claims using these modifiers will be denied if not from approved ICD programs.
