Summary
Starting October 1, 2023, Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid) will cover travel and nonroutine adult vaccines recommended by ACIP, including specific administration codes and vaccines for anthrax, dengue, yellow fever, typhoid, and other travel-related immunizations. This expands Medicaid coverage to include vaccines previously excluded for travel purposes.
Action Required
By October 1, 2023: Billing team must update system to allow billing of travel and nonroutine adult vaccine codes 90473, 90474, 90581, 90584, 90586, 90587, 90625, 90690, 90691, 90717, 90738, and 90758 for Oregon Health Plan (Medicaid) members. Update encounter forms and inform providers that these vaccines are now covered for appropriate patients with underlying health conditions, occupational needs, or travel requirements.
