Starting October 1, 2023, Oregon Medicaid will no longer require prior authorization for orthodontic evaluations using code D8660. Providers can now bill for pre-orthodontic treatment evaluations directly without obtaining prior approval.

By October 1, 2023: Billing team must update Oregon Medicaid billing procedures to remove prior authorization requirements for code D8660 (pre-orthodontic treatment evaluation). Update billing software settings and encounter forms to reflect that D8660 can be billed directly without prior approval for Oregon Medicaid patients.
