Summary
Oregon Health Authority has identified improper billing of code H2011 with HE/HT modifiers by providers who are either not certified for Mobile Crisis Intervention Services (MCIS) or are billing for non-MCIS services. Only MCIS-certified providers can use these modifier combinations.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must verify MCIS certification on Certificate of Approval before billing H2011 with HE or HT modifiers. Stop using HE/HT modifiers with H2011 if not MCIS-certified or providing non-MCIS services. Amend previously submitted claims to remove HE/HT modifiers if billed incorrectly. OHA will recover overpayments from future payments.
