Summary
Starting April 1, 2025, all Oregon Medicaid BRS (Behavior Rehabilitation Service) approvals will be standardized to 180 days instead of the previous 90-day periods for some settings. New authorization requests are required if a child doesn't enter the BRS program within 90 days of initial approval or has a change in condition affecting eligibility.
Action Required
By April 1, 2025: Billing team must update authorization tracking systems for Oregon Medicaid BRS clients to reflect new 180-day approval periods. Update workflows to monitor the 90-day entry requirement and submit new authorization requests when children don't begin services within 90 days of initial approval or have condition changes affecting eligibility. Ensure discharge processes are arranged before approval periods end when treatment goals are met.
