Summary
Oregon Health Plan is updating air ambulance reimbursement effective July 1, 2024, adding separate codes for rotary-wing and fixed-wing air mileage, introducing a TN modifier for higher rural pickup rates, and increasing rates to 80% of Medicare rates. The changes are not yet active in the claims system, but providers should prepare billing software and staff.

Before OHA system updates are complete: Billing team must update billing software with new air ambulance codes A0435, A0436, A0430, A0431 and TN modifier for rural pickups. Train staff on new urban vs rural rate structure (rural rates are 50% higher with TN modifier). Monitor for OHA notification when claims system is ready to process new rates and codes.
