Summary
CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield now allows minors 11+ to receive vaccines without parental consent under D.C. law. For these cases, providers must use special paper claim forms and notification processes to suppress EOB statements to parents.
Action Required
Immediately: For minors 11+ receiving vaccines without parental consent in Washington D.C., billing team must complete D.C. Minor Consent Notification Form AND submit paper claims (CMS-1500 for professional, UB-04 for institutional) via mail to CareFirst Privacy Office. Do NOT submit these claims electronically or EOB suppression will fail.
