Summary
CareFirst is launching a new integrated prior authorization system in late October 2021 for Commercial and FEP members, replacing their previous system. Multiple training webinars are being offered throughout October and November to help providers learn the new Altruista Health system integrated within the CareFirst Provider portal.
Action Required
By October 2021: Billing and authorization staff must attend one of the scheduled webinars to learn the new CareFirst prior authorization system. Register for either the general prior authorization webinar or the inpatient-specific webinar based on your practice needs. Update staff workflows to use the new integrated system within the CareFirst Provider portal for all Commercial and FEP prior authorizations starting in late October.
