Summary
CareFirst has upgraded to a new Prior Authorization notification system called Altruista for Commercial and FEP members, effective January 10, 2022. Providers must now use the new system accessed through the 'Prior Auth/Notifications' tab in the CareFirst provider portal instead of the old system.
Action Required
Immediately: All staff handling prior authorizations must transition to the new Altruista system by logging into carefirst.com and selecting the 'Prior Auth/Notifications' tab, then clicking 'Start Now' under Medical (Commercial/FEP/Medicare Advantage) for all inpatient notifications and outpatient authorizations. Complete available training webinars or on-demand training at carefirst.com/providereducation before January 31, 2022. Update workflow procedures to reflect the new system interface and dashboard.
