Summary
UnitedHealthcare has enhanced how medical practices receive and process virtual card payments from members by adding two new features to the Provider Portal: a Payments from Members folder in Document Library for digital payment notifications, and a Payment Preference Center where practices can manage how they receive member payments. Practices must now regularly check the new portal folder and use credit card terminals to process these virtual payments within 30 days.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must set up email notifications in Document Delivery Settings under the Payments from Members tab to receive alerts when new virtual card payments are uploaded. Regularly check the new Payments from Members folder in Document Library within the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal. When processing member virtual card payments, use credit card point-of-sale terminal to process as credit transactions (not debit) and ensure processing within 30 days before automatic expiration and refund to member.
