Summary
Effective November 1, 2023, skilled nursing facility providers must enter all prior authorization requests for CareFirst commercial members through the online CareFirst Prior Authorization portal instead of other submission methods. CareFirst is offering training webinars and on-demand courses to help providers transition to the new electronic system.
Action Required
Before November 1, 2023: Skilled nursing facility billing team must set up CareFirst Direct provider portal accounts using Tax ID, Billing NPI and email address. Complete training through live webinars (Oct 17, 26, 31, or Nov 2) or on-demand courses in Learning and Engagement Center. Transition all skilled nursing facility prior authorization submissions for CareFirst commercial members to online portal system.
