Summary
Due to a cybersecurity incident at Change Healthcare on February 21, 2024, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield has severed connections and stopped processing claims through Change Healthcare. Providers must transition to Availity for electronic claims submission and resubmit any claims that were sent through Change Healthcare since February 21.
Action Required
Immediately: Register with Availity for electronic claims submission using the Availity Essentials Portal Registration. Stop submitting claims through Change Healthcare. Resubmit all medical claims that were submitted to CareFirst using or passing through Change Healthcare since February 21, 2024 once Availity connection is established. If using another EDI vendor that routes through Change Healthcare, work with that vendor to reroute claims through Availity instead.
