Summary
CalViva Health Medi-Cal providers can receive additional payment for screening patients for adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) starting January 1, 2020. However, effective July 1, 2020, providers must complete certified online training and self-attest to receive payment for ACEs screenings.
Action Required
By July 1, 2020: Providers must complete two-hour online training at https://training.acesaware.org/ and self-attest completion using the Trauma Screening Training Attestation form at https://www.medi-cal.ca.gov/TSTA/TSTAattest.aspx. Use approved screening tools (PEARLS for ages 0-19, ACEs assessment for ages 21-65) available at www.acesaware.org/screen/screening-tools/. Without completed training and attestation, providers will not receive payment for ACEs screenings.
