Summary
Medi-Cal providers must complete mandatory trauma-informed care training and self-attest to receive payment for ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) screening services effective July 1, 2020. Providers who haven't completed the required 2-hour online training and DHCS attestation will not be paid for ACEs screening services until they do so.
Action Required
Immediately for providers billing ACEs screening: Complete the mandatory 2-hour online trauma-informed care training at acesaware.org and submit the DHCS Trauma Screening Training Attestation with valid NPI number. Use only approved screening tools (PEARLS for ages 0-19, ACEs assessment for adults). Contact Provider_Services@healthnet.com to verify attestation status. Failure to complete training and attestation will result in non-payment for all ACEs screening services.
