Summary
CalViva Health is ending COVID-19 prior authorization extensions effective August 19, 2021. Prior authorizations will return to the standard 3-month validity period instead of the extended 6-month period that was in place during the pandemic.
Action Required
By August 19, 2021: Billing team must update prior authorization tracking systems to reflect 3-month validity periods for all new CalViva Health Medi-Cal prior authorizations in Fresno, Kings, and Madera counties. Continue to honor existing PAs with 6-month extensions until their current expiration dates. Update scheduling staff procedures to ensure services are scheduled within 3-month timeframes.
