California Medicaid providers delivering home health care, personal care services, and other in-home services must register by October 19, 2022 for the new Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) system. Starting January 1, 2023, providers must use EVV to track all qualifying in-home visits or face claim denials.
Action Required
By October 19, 2022: California providers delivering home health care services, personal care services, day habilitation, respite services, or CBAS-ERS must self-register at the DHCS website for CalEVV system access. Before January 1, 2023: Complete EVV training and update workflows to capture six mandatory data components for each in-home visit (service type, member, date, location, provider, start/end times). Failure to comply will result in claim denials and required corrective action plans.
