Summary
Healthcare providers delivering specific in-home services (home health, personal care, day habilitation, respite, and CBAS-ERS) to Medi-Cal members must register for the new Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) system by October 19, 2022. Starting January 1, 2023, EVV will be mandatory for tracking these services, and providers must capture six data elements per visit or risk claim denials.
Action Required
By October 19, 2022: Providers delivering home health care services, personal care services, homemaker services, day habilitation programs, respite services, or CBAS-ERS must self-register at the DHCS website for the CalEVV system. Complete training videos and setup before January 1, 2023. Starting January 1, 2023: For each in-home visit, capture and transmit six mandatory data components (service type, patient identity, date, location, provider identity, start/end times) through the EVV system. Failure to comply will result in claim denials by Health Net.
