Summary
Healthcare providers delivering in-home services (home health, personal care, respite services) to Medi-Cal members in Fresno, Kings, and Madera counties must register for and complete Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) system training before January 1, 2023. The EVV system tracks in-home visits and captures six mandatory data components for each visit to reduce fraud and abuse.
Action Required
Before January 1, 2023: Providers offering in-home services (home health care, personal care services, day habilitation programs, respite services) to Medi-Cal members must: 1) Self-register on the DHCS website to obtain a CalEVV identifier number, 2) Complete required EVV system training within 2 days of registration, 3) Set up EVV account after training completion, 4) Ensure EVV system captures and transmits six mandatory data components for each in-home visit (service type, patient, date, location, provider, start/end times). Failure to comply will result in payment denials from health plans.
