Summary

Effective January 1, 2023, 'Initial Health Assessments' are now called 'Initial Health Appointments' (IHA) and no longer require Individual Health Education Behavioral Assessment (IHEBA) or Staying Healthy Assessment (SHA) components. All CalViva Health members still need IHAs completed within primary care settings, but the documentation requirements have been simplified.

Action Required

Action needed
Immediately: Update EMR templates and encounter forms to reflect new 'Initial Health Appointment' terminology instead of 'Initial Health Assessment'. Remove IHEBA and SHA documentation requirements from IHA workflows. Access the updated IHA tip sheet from CalViva Health Provider Library Education section for current requirements and service codes. Ensure all primary care providers understand simplified documentation requirements for new patient IHAs.
