Summary
HealthNet California has updated their Prison Health Care Provider Network Operations Manual with new documents covering formulary, billing instructions, credentialing requirements, and appeals processes. Most importantly for billing teams, effective July 1, 2023, claims for juvenile health services must now be directed to counties rather than the California Department of Corrections due to the closure of Division of Juvenile Justice facilities.

Immediately: Billing team must redirect all health care claims for juvenile patients to the appropriate county where the patient is located (not CDCR) for services rendered after June 30, 2023. Continue submitting claims for services on or before June 30, 2023 to CDCR.
