Summary

Virginia Medicaid (HealthKeepers/Anthem) is launching an online Peer-to-Peer (P2P) scheduling enhancement within Availity Essentials that allows providers to schedule and cancel P2P conversations electronically for physical health and behavioral health services. This replaces the current phone/email submission process and provides 24/7 self-service scheduling with real-time visibility into appointments.

Action Required

Action needed
By mid-June 2026: Billing and authorization staff must familiarize themselves with the new Availity Essentials P2P scheduling feature. Front desk and authorization teams should update workflows to use online scheduling for physical health and behavioral health P2P requests instead of phone/email submission. Note that pharmacy P2P requests continue through existing processes. Train staff on accessing the feature at https://Availity.com, selecting the HealthKeepers payer space, and using the online scheduling tool. Contact Availity Chat with Payer (available during business hours) or HealthKeepers provider support with questions about implementation.
