Summary
Connecticut hospitals must enroll as practitioner groups in the Connecticut Medical Assistance Program (CMAP) to bill for outpatient professional services starting July 1, 2016. Individual hospital-based providers must also be enrolled and associated with these groups to ensure reimbursement outside the Outpatient Prospective Payment System.
Action Required
By May 31, 2016: Hospitals must enroll at least one practitioner group in CMAP using the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Provider Enrollment Wizard at www.ctdssmap.com. Select 'Organization/Group' application type, 'Physician Group' provider type, and appropriate specialty (Hospitalist, Emergency Medicine, etc.). Enroll multiple groups if hospital has practitioners in specialties requiring separate groups (Family Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, APRNs, Behavioral Health, etc.). After group enrollment, enroll all hospital-based providers as 'Employed/Contracted by an organization' and associate them to respective groups. Contact NPPES to add required taxonomies under hospital's NPI. Failure to complete enrollment will prevent billing for outpatient professional services after July 1, 2016.
