Summary
Starting July 1, 2017, Connecticut HUSKY Health (Medicaid) requires prior authorization for 16 specific custom wheelchair component codes when purchased or modified. Prior auth is NOT required for repairs of these same components.
Action Required
Before July 1, 2017: Billing team must update system to require prior authorization for wheelchair component codes E0950, E0951, E0952, E0955, E0956, E0957, E0961, E0973, E0974, E0978, E0990, E0995, E1028, E2231, E2313, K0040, K0042 when billed with NU or NU KA modifiers for HUSKY Health members. Submit PA requests via fax or web portal with clinical documentation supporting medical necessity. PA requests pending over 20 business days without documentation will be denied.
