Summary
Connecticut Medicaid (HUSKY) has reduced the temporary supply for long-acting sustained release opioid medications requiring prior authorization from 14 days to 7 days, effective July 1, 2017. Pharmacies can dispense a one-time 7-day supply by entering all 9's in the Prior Authorization Number field and '1' in the Prior Authorization Type field while waiting for PA approval.

When dispensing long-acting sustained release opioids without prior authorization on file, enter all 9's (999999999) in the Prior Authorization Number field (NCPDP 462-EV) and numeric value '1' in the Prior Authorization Type field (NCPDP 461-EU) to allow one-time 7-day supply. Prescribers must obtain prior authorization for continued therapy beyond the temporary supply.
