Summary
Effective July 24, 2018, DSS changed their dental restoration reimbursement policy to apply surface-based pricing methodology even when different providers perform subsequent restorations on the same tooth within one year. Previously, this policy only applied when the same provider performed multiple restorations on the same tooth.
Action Required
Immediately: Billing team must check patient history at www.ctdhp.com before providing dental restoration services to verify previous restorations on the same tooth. Update workflow to ensure providers are aware that reimbursement will be calculated based on total surfaces restored regardless of which provider performed previous work.
